Clutch pedal looks great and is really a sturdy piece, the problem is the stop that goes against the rubber on the support bracket is way to far back. The stop hits the rubber on the back 1/3 of the rubber and is so far back that the back portion is making metal to metal contact with the support bracket itself. Also, my old setup did seem unsafe at all... but I put this pedal in and just sitting on my workbench the spring pulled the clutch pedal back the other way and threw it off onto the floor. I'm not sure if I just got a bad piece or what... but it's gonna require modification to work in my stock 68 mustang.
Note From Store Owner: From your review, we took the time to double check our 67-68 Mustang/Cougar pedal for fit.
A comparison was made to the factory 68 Mustang clutch pedal and our was found to be exactly the same.
Ford build two different pedal for 67 and 68. 67 Mustang pedal has a longer pedal stop arm, but has a straight pedal arm
This provents Cougars with tilt columns to clear column housing. Ford then build the the 68 arm to address this.
Yes the OEM 68 Mustang pedal only contacts the pedal stop by about 1/3, it is normal.
It is recommended if you are going to use stock clutch linkage and the pedal assist spring, to install it with the pedal in
in the car, this prevents the pedal arm to swing too far forward and allowing spring to release. The assist clutch spring is
not used with cable or hydrualic release systems.
